Helen and Elaine  

Heavens is privately owned and operated by Helen Vanderburg and Elaine Arthur.  Their combined passion has made Heavens Fitness the leader in fitness programs, unique classes, quality service and highly personalized service. 

Helen Vanderburg is a international fitness and motivational speaker, trainer and program developer for some of the most respected fitness and athletic companies in the world including; NIKE, Nautilus, efiSportsmedicine, Fitness Quest, CanFitPro, IDEA and many more.  Her leadership has been recognized by the most prestigious fitness organizations by awarding her with the 2005 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year, 2006/1996 CanFitPro Presenter of the Year, 1996 IDEA Program Director of the Year, 2001 Women of Vision award, and the recipient of the 2001 Mall Peepre National Fitness Leadership Memorial award.  

Helen's wealth of experience is recognized in the media including guest appearances on City TV as well as being a fitness columnist for the Calgary Herald and numerous magazines including Flare, Chatelaine, Oxygen, Self and Fitness.  She is an elite athlete as a past World Champion Synchronized Swimmer and honored member of the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and International Aquatic Hall of Fame. 

In 1987 Elaine Arthur partnered with Helen to build the future of Heavens.  Elaine’s education and business expertise has guided Heavens through significant growth from the expansion of the original Heavens Fitness Club to the addition of the Group Fitness Programs for the Calgary Jewish Community Center, the Glencoe Club, the City of Calgary and ATCO Group.  Elaine's business experience and eye for detail has established Heavens Fitness as a leader in facility management, group exercise management and fitness consulting.
